Stainless Steel Griffin Beakers

Griffin form — squat, wide, with a pouring lip — in stainless steel rather than glass. The shape is the same one a glass beaker uses, so these drop into the same racks, hot plates and procedures; the material is what changes what they can do.

Stainless will not shatter, which is the whole argument in a production area, a wash-up room, a walk-in cooler or anywhere a dropped beaker means a shutdown rather than a dustpan. It also takes direct flame and hot-plate heat without the thermal-shock limits of glass, and it can be autoclaved indefinitely without crazing.

The trade-off is that you cannot see through it. For anything where the contents must be watched — a colour change, a precipitate forming, a titration endpoint — glass remains the right tool. Stainless is for transferring, weighing, heating and holding, not for observing.
