An indicator paper for pH across the full 1–11 range, on paper carrying three indicator zones. Touch it to the sample and read the colour against the scale printed on the dispenser.
A single indicator zone can be read wrong when the colour falls between two steps. Three zones changing together give a pattern rather than a shade, and a pattern is much harder to misread — which is why Tritest is the paper handed to people who are not chemists.
A strip gives a range, not a figure. That is enough for the great majority of decisions — dose or do not dose, discharge or hold, keep running or stop — and it gives the answer where the sample is, in about a minute, with no instrument to calibrate and nothing to carry back to a laboratory.
When a number has to be defensible — a regulatory report, a dispute, a limit you are close to — a photometer or a laboratory method is the right tool. The strip's job is to tell you whether you need one.
The L version adds hydrophobic barriers between the zones so a coloured or oily sample cannot bleed from one pad into the next.
Supplied in 4 presentations covering different measuring ranges.
