The largest of the Hanna stirrers at 5 litres, and the only one that runs to a clock. A set stirring time makes a step repeatable across operators and shifts: a preparation stirred for exactly fifteen minutes every time is a controlled variable, while one stirred until somebody remembers to switch it off is not.
That is the difference between a stirrer and a documented method. Where a procedure specifies a mixing time — dissolution studies, standard preparation, anything written to a protocol — the timer is what makes the specification real.
Auto feedback is fitted as standard and holds the set speed as load changes. Without it, a solution that thickens as a solid dissolves slows the bar, and the actual rpm at the end of a run is not the rpm that was set at the start. With it, the drive compensates and the set point is the speed throughout — which is what makes a timed run comparable to the last one.
