Hanna Instruments solution for an ionic strength adjuster for halide ion-selective electrodes, one model.
HI4000-00
This Hanna Instruments calibration solution measures an ionic strength adjuster for halide ion-selective electrodes.
An ISE responds to ion activity, not concentration, and activity depends on everything else dissolved in the sample. Adding the same adjuster to every sample and standard swamps those differences so that one calibration applies to all of them.
A standard is only a standard while it is uncontaminated and in date. Pour what you need into a clean beaker, never dip an electrode into the bottle, and never return what you poured. Cap the bottle immediately — several of these solutions change value simply by standing open.
Write the opening date on the label. An expired or contaminated standard does not announce itself; it quietly calibrates every instrument in the laboratory to the wrong value.
The adjuster must go into standards and samples in the same proportion; skipping it in the standards is the classic ISE error.
Supplied as one model.
