Chloride ISE 100 Ppm Standard

This Hanna Instruments calibration solution measures a 100 ppm chloride standard for calibrating a chloride ISE.

Why it is measured

Chloride matters in corrosion work, in coastal well monitoring and in food, and an ISE measuring it needs bracketing standards to be trusted. One near the expected concentration is worth more than one far from it.

Handling and shelf life

A standard is only a standard while it is uncontaminated and in date. Pour what you need into a clean beaker, never dip an electrode into the bottle, and never return what you poured. Cap the bottle immediately — several of these solutions change value simply by standing open.

Write the opening date on the label. An expired or contaminated standard does not announce itself; it quietly calibrates every instrument in the laboratory to the wrong value.

Practical note

Add ionic strength adjuster to the standard as well as the sample; an ISE calibrated without it is calibrated against different conditions.
