Amber HDPE bottles for anything that degrades in light. The pigment blocks the visible and near-UV range that breaks down photosensitive reagents, stains, standards and many pharmaceutical preparations — the same reason those arrive from the manufacturer in amber glass, achieved here without the breakage risk.
High-density polyethylene handles the acids, bases and aqueous solutions of routine laboratory work, and the matched polypropylene closures seal against the moulded neck rather than needing a liner that can react with the contents.
Narrow mouth pours a controlled stream and loses less to evaporation — right for solvents, standards and anything decanted rather than scooped. Wide mouth takes a spatula, a scoop or a gloved hand, and is much easier to clean and to fill with a solid. Choose by how the bottle will be emptied, not by what goes in it.
