Barnes Wastewater Pumps with Noryl Impeller, NTE and NNE Series

Submersible cast iron pumps with the impeller moulded in Noryl, an engineering resin. The combination is deliberate: the iron casing brings mass and robustness, and the plastic impeller brings what iron cannot.

What the Noryl impeller gains

It is lighter than an iron one, which cuts inertia and makes starting gentler on the motor — important in a sump pump that starts and stops on a float dozens of times a day.

It does not corrode, so it does not lose profile over time. An iron impeller in wastewater pits away and its performance falls gradually and invisibly; a Noryl one keeps its geometry.

And it costs less to replace, which in practice matters most: on a wastewater pump the impeller is the wear part.

Where it has a limit

Noryl does not tolerate sustained abrasion. For water carrying sand — dewatering an excavation, a well with sediment — an iron impeller lasts longer. This series is for domestic and commercial wastewater, not for dewatering with abrasive solids.

Five configurations from 0.5 to 1 hp, with 1 1/4″ to 2″ discharge, single phase at 110/220 V.
