The volute pump is the general-purpose centrifugal: an impeller turning inside a spiral casing that converts velocity into pressure. It is the workhorse of clean-water pumping — elevated tanks, irrigation, the supply of a house or a small building, process recirculation.
Two numbers define the selection and have to be read together: H max. is the head in metres of water column the pump can lift, and Q max. the flow in gallons per minute. You never get both at once — a pump delivers its maximum flow at almost zero head, and reaches maximum head at almost zero flow. The real duty point sits somewhere between.
In practice: add the static lift you must overcome to the friction losses of the pipe run, choose a pump whose H max. exceeds that figure with margin, and check that it still delivers the flow you need at that head.
The CE series covers the lower powers, from 0.25 hp with 1″ NPT suction and discharge — the choice for a house or a small tank. The DE series starts at 0.5 hp with 1 1/4″ suction and runs up to the highest-powered models in the group.
The 110/220 V single-phase models serve domestic and small commercial installations; three-phase at 220/440 V is for industrial supply.
Confirm the voltage and phase count available on site before ordering: a three-phase motor will not start on a single-phase service, and that is the most common and most expensive specification error to correct.
