When what is missing is not flow but pressure, the right pump is a high-pressure one. The Barnes HSE series is built to lift water high or push it far: multi-storey buildings, sprinkler irrigation, fire mains, process lines with heavy friction loss.

Pressure and flow are bought separately

This is the most expensive confusion in specifying a pump. A high-pressure pump does not move more water than an ordinary centrifugal of the same power — it moves the same water higher. If the problem is that a tank takes too long to fill, this series is not the answer; if the problem is that water does not reach the top floor or the sprinkler falls short, it is.

The two numbers to read together are H MAX., head in metres of water column, and Q MAX., flow in gallons per minute. No pump delivers both at once: maximum head occurs at almost zero flow and the reverse. Add your real static lift to the pipe losses, and choose with margin above that figure.

Stages

Multistage models stack impellers in series: each stage receives water already pressurised by the one before and adds its own. It is the efficient way to reach large heads without an oversized motor. More stages raise pressure; flow is set by diameter.

Range

Sixty-eight configurations cover 1 to 40 hp, with 1″ to 3″ NPT suction and discharge, single phase at 115/230 V and three phase at 230/460 V.

Confirm phase count and voltage on site before ordering. A three-phase motor will not start on a single-phase service, and in this power range most of the larger models exist only as three phase.
