The everyday measuring cylinder of a working laboratory. Class B tolerance is roughly twice the permitted error of Class A, which is exactly right for the work cylinders actually do — making up washes, measuring solvent for an extraction, batching a stock solution — and wrong only for the volumetric steps that should be done in a pipette or a volumetric flask anyway.
Borosilicate glass throughout, with a hexagonal glass base that resists rolling on the bench and gives the cylinder a wide, stable footprint. A spout at the rim pours without running down the outside.
Eight capacities are stocked:

Size so the measured volume falls in the upper half of the cylinder. Reading 20 mL in a 250 mL cylinder wastes the graduation interval and the meniscus is the same width either way; a 25 mL cylinder reads that volume several times more precisely.
Read at the bottom of the meniscus with the cylinder on a level surface and the eye at the liquid line — reading from above is the most common source of error with cylinders, and it is systematic rather than random.
