A bottletop dispenser screws onto the reagent bottle and delivers a set volume by pumping a piston, so the bottle is never lifted, tipped or opened to a pipette. For any reagent dispensed dozens of times a day — buffers, acids, stains, culture media — that removes both the repetitive strain and the spill risk of pouring.
The Jade BEAT dispenses to ISO 8655, the standard that defines accuracy and coefficient of variation for piston-operated volumetric apparatus, so a stated volume is a traceable one rather than a nominal one.
The whole unit takes 121 °C at 15 psi for 10–15 minutes without disassembly. That matters for media and microbiological work, where a dispenser that cannot be sterilised as a unit becomes a contamination path between batches.
A recirculation valve returns priming strokes to the bottle instead of to waste. Priming a 100 mL dispenser costs several full strokes; sending those back to the bottle rather than a beaker matters with expensive reagents and with anything that should not go down a drain.

Choose the range whose upper figure is closest above the volume dispensed most often. A piston dispenser is least accurate at the bottom of its travel, so a 100 mL unit set to 5 mL is a worse instrument than a 5 mL unit at full stroke.
