The Fisher Scientific Desiccator with Porcelain Plate ships as a working set — body, lid and the porcelain plate sized to it — so nothing has to be matched up separately at the point of order. For a laboratory adding desiccator capacity rather than replacing a broken part, this removes the most common ordering mistake: a plate that does not seat on the shoulder of the body it was bought for.
The body is heavy-wall borosilicate glass with a ground flange. Greased against the knobbed lid, it holds a dry atmosphere without vacuum and tolerates the thermal shock of crucibles coming out of a furnace. The glazed porcelain plate divides the vessel: samples above, desiccant below.
Two sizes are offered:
Both are non-vacuum desiccators. Height matters as much as diameter here — tall weighing bottles and covered crucibles need headroom under the lid, and the 250 mm size gives roughly 26 mm more than the 200 mm.
Desiccant is not included. Indicating silica gel is the usual choice for general storage because its colour change signals when regeneration is due.
